To the ones who think they’re losers

Closeup Photography of Loser Scrabble Letter

Every night you keep looking at the clock and consider all the times that could have been had you not quit. Maybe it was just a phase, maybe it would’ve ended and things would’ve turned out just fine. Maybe you would’ve done better, been better. But instead, you chose to quit, give up, run back.

Ah, this thought. It makes you feel like a stupid loser and hate yourself as much as you can. You ran back, right? But maybe when we’re running away from some places and people, we’re coming closer to ourselves. Maybe sometimes, staying with and for our very own selves involves leaving people behind. Maybe losing certain things helps us find ourselves. Maybe this loss isn’t really a loss, maybe there’s a victory in this defeat.

I’m not rationalising giving up, I’m just trying to tell you that you chose yourself and there’s no shame in that. In fact, that’s the bravest thing to do. You may not be who you wanted to be, where you wanted to be but you ARE here, breathing and alive. And you know what? Sometimes, that’s simply enough. Not doing anything big, not basking in the spotlight, not being the “all time winner”. Sometimes, it’s okay to be just another one in the crowd, to be completely lost and as you think, a loser. It’s okay, you know?

I don’t know how this letter makes you feel but i hope that today when you stare at the clock at 2 in the dark, you consider the other side of things too. Maybe things wouldn’t have gotten better, maybe staying would’ve destroyed you. Maybe it was best you left. And maybe, just maybe, you realise that you’re not a loser, you’re the very saviour who saved yourself.

Yours truly,
Always.
